Ora et labora et lege
“Pray and work” - this motto is the “progamme” of the Benedictine Order. Its economic strength has also provided Admont Monastery with the basis for fulfilling its diverse tasks independently and “to further life in its religious, cultural and material dimensions”, as Abbot Bruno Hubl described the importance of its concerns to Admont Monastery.
Originally the Monastery’s business activities were mainly confined to agriculture and forestry. In recent decades, however, the concept of diversification has increasingly been gaining ground and new branches have been developed. Today the activities range from agriculture and forestry to wood processing, power supplies and tourism.
Admont Monastery as regional economic motor
Some 500 persons are employed in Admont Monastery’s concerns. The jobs thereby provided together with comprehensive investments produce additional income and purchasing power for the local population, supplier firms and public institutions and thus provide an important contribution to the development of the region.
“Responsibility towards the region and long-term management are important facets of our behaviour”, as DI Helmut Neuner put it. As Business Director he is responsible for the successful management of Admont Monastery’s business activities.
