PLAY ADMONT – gaining access to contemporary international art through play
An exhibition under the aegis of Regionale 10 – from 3 June to 7 November 2010
Regionale 10: In 2010, this young festival of contemporary art will be taking place in Liezen in Austria under the motto “On the edge of the centre”. Admont Monastery will be among the leading venues for Regionale 10 and its exhibition PLAY ADMONT is designed to promote the “desire to experiment”, primarily through encouraging visitors to interact with works of contemporary international art through games. The whole site, including library, museum, gardens and pavilion, will act as a playground in which visitors will become explorers, discovers and participants in the creative process.
One of the many highlights will be Armin Linke’s installation Phenotypes/Limited Forms in the monastery library, which will enable visitors to produce and print their own, individual catalogue to take home with them.
Expect the unexpected …

The Best of Admont
Admont Monastery, in Styria in Austria, has been assembling a collection of contemporary Austrian art since 1997, and now boasts more than 400 works from the genres of painting, sculpture, graphic art, photography and audiovisual installation. Of particular interest is the “Made for Admont” series, expressly created for display here, which includes artworks that employ various non-visual techniques so they can be enjoyed by blind and visually impaired people. As a preview of the exhibitions that are to be staged at Admont Monastery as part of the Regionale 10 art festival (from 3 June to 7 November 2010), this event provides a tantalising foretaste of the very best of the Admont Collection!
